Tee hee!! I’ve scanned through…. becoming a professional cheerleader, magician, actress, singer, author, professional traveler (you know, the ones you see on TV?!), doctor, animal doctor, dietician, nutritionist, owner of organic and raw food cafe, yoga guide, and now I feel like I’ve found an anchor with coaching (although I still dabble with different elements like health, nutrition, spirituality, crystals, angels, astrology, yoga). I guess in essence, I still want the same thing — and that’s too inspire people to release their resistance and live up to their potential by living up to mine. ;)

I love that you explained why us scanners excel in everything — it’s so true. I excelled in all of them, that is, until I lost my passion. Then it just seemed like a drag and a bad idea.

But hey! If I never went through all of those phases, I’d never have the knowledge and experience I have right now.

Thanks for sharing the different transformations you went through and allowing us to have a better understanding of you. Totally illuminating! x

Yay! Perfect timing, I’ve been contemplating not finishing something I’ve started, this takes the pressure off big time- thanks Tara xxx

Oh wow Tara, this is a good topic! I am a scanner for sure. When I was younger I did think there was something wrong with me, my mother would lament me taking up basketball for a few months then acting lessons then dancing. I did feel flaky. However I had a wonderful school counsellor who said to me: “You don’t have to figure out what you want to do. Just figure out what you want to do first”! I loved this sentiment!

I love my ‘scanner-ness’ now. As you say, we get to explore a lot of options and continually learn and have adventures, I wouldn’t want to be any other way!

I would also recommend the book ‘The Renaissance Soul’ which can help you narrow down your passions if they are numerous and feel overwhelming.

      xx

Thx Tara – so lovely to know that I have a gift instead of always being seen as having an unstable work record :-)

I know a bucket load of stuff coz I’ve done sooooooo’ much in my life. I don’t have the degree I always thought I wanted and I now know I’d rather spend 4 years doing all the subjects and courses I’m passionate about rather than studying a whole lot of stuff that bores me to tears just to get a piece of paper!

Yep, I’m a scanner and I’m learning to be okay with it.

      Thx for sharing ♥

Wow! Love this. Learnt this this year when I did a strengths finder exercise and found I was an ‘ideation’ and ‘activation’ person, meaning I love ideas and starting stuff.

To know I could think of it as a strength was such a relief! It IS a gift. Thanks Tara!

THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU! I am 100% scanner and am often told I can be flighty, live too much on a whim and should never start something I can’t finish. I have always felt that people perceive this as a weakness and I start to own that myself. I am right in the midst of deciding to leave a job I don’t love but for the first time a job that friends and family approve of and that gives me the stability I have never had. I have started a zillion careers much like yourself and am forever searching but always feel I am on my path.
I’m not keen to play is safe after seeing this clip and am once again ready to branch out on a limb, embrace the scanner that I am and thank the universe for always dangling carrots.
Thanks Tara!! This video has made my day… your timing is impeccable!

I love this and you are amazing. My favourite take was that you don’t have to be hard on yourself if you change direction, don’t finish something.

Always my favourite life lesson to be kinder to yourself. Thank you x

Hahah! Tara – you almost described my life :)

I’ve got a degree in Music; have worked as an Arts Adminstrator; ran my own business creating music for meditation; have a Certificate in Environmental Sustainability in Business; a Cert IV in Project Management; I’m a registered Personal Trainer; and now I’m interested in becoming an Ontological Coach!

I describe myself as a neophile (a person who is interested / addicted to new experiences and ideas) and these days I embrace it fully.

I also love Marie Forleo’s description of being a multi-passionate entrepreneur.

It makes me feel like I can do anything I put my mind to. But I also can see the thread of common desire in all of these experiences and that is to help heal and bring light to the world.

Big ups to all the Scanners here! xxx

Love this video and I can sooooo relate! For years I’d get frustrated about never being able to stick with one thing, until I too, realised it was actually a gift. You’re so right lovey! xox

Thank you for this amazing video Tara. After years of wondering why I do it and looking at scanning as a negative, the last few years I have been embracing this gift. The world is in a constant state of change and so are we. It makes complete sense!

      Happy New Year Tara!

First, can I just say, I love your videos! I really relate to this one as right now I’m struggling to let go of something big in my life that hasn’t been working for a long time so I can open the space to find what does… I’m a bit of a scanner… but I like to look before I leap. For me, jumping feet first into the unknown has become scarier than staying stuck in a rut… So your fear busting is exactly what I need right now!

I’m in the process of packing up my Sydney flat to move, unexpectedly, back up to Brisbane! Are you still kicking around South East Queensland? It was be so rad to get together sometime soon. I hope we can make it happen!

Your blog is blowing up and your business looks to be really taking off… whenever I come to this space, I feel so very proud for you!

      Hi Tara!
      Oh my god… I’m a total scanner.
So far, after graduating school, I’ve enrolled in Creative Writing, Agribusiness, Teaching, Animal Science, Law, and Animal Science again at uni, then have tried hairdressing and managing in a luxury retailer. I’ve always seen it as a weakness and legit thought I was going crazy. Everyone always rolls their eyes at me now when I come up with my next idea… which is really disheartening. But I absolutely love the way you’ve described our “scanner” personality. Now I know WHY I am the way I am, it also gives me the power to work WITH it instead of AGAINST it.

For example- I know in my heart of hearts I want to be a veterinarian, but I keep getting distracted by “shiny” things every time I try to knuckle down and do it. I always keep coming back to it eventually though, and I believe that’s got to mean something. I really feel like you’ve now given me the answers to getting there… I can’t thank you enough. I wish I could give you a massive cuddle- I’m literally sitting here feeling so relieved, wanting to have a little cry.

Big, massive, heart-felt love to you.
      xxxxx
