Such Different Vixens: Ophi Edut from the AstroTwins

Let me get something off my chest.  I really, really, really love connecting to someone who – on the outside – seems untouchable, but – in all reality – is a total freaking sweet heart.

That’s how I felt when I met Ophi.

A few weeks ago, I hooked up with her online to explore my astrological chart (something I very much recommend you do), and I was blown away by how humble, human and downright gorgeous she was. I felt so supported by her cosmic wisdom, and comfortable in her company.

Ophi (in the black top) is one half of the Astrotwins (her sister Tali being the other half), and let’s make one thing very clear: They offer the best damn scopes on the planet. On.the.planet.

I’ll be just about to hire a coach, and the girls will say: Pisces, consider working with a coach.

I’ll be falling head over heels in love with yoga, and the girls will say: Pisces, do more yoga. And pilates, too.

I’ll be going through a Cant Stop Lighting Candles phase, and the girls will say: Pisces, there’s something so very grounding about having a ritual.

And the one on one reading?  Divine. Inspiring.  So very life-affirming.  We riffed about the relationship dynamic of Glen and I (and why we’re so compatible), the type of 6 months I can expect in front of me, and quite specifically, about what I can expect when I head to Bali in October to write a book.

Enough about me; back to Ophi. She’s warm, intuitive, and you’re going to love her.

Sum up your mission in one sentence.

Bringing the stars down to earth. In other words, making astrology a practical, accessible tool that empowers people!

Can you share with us one of your most vulnerable moments (and in hindsight, what made it so beautiful?).

It may sound cliché, but one of the first nights back from the hospital with my daughter Cybele (who is now almost 3), I was watching her sleep and just got powerfully moved by the magnitude of it all, and the tears just started streaming. As in: Holy s*** I have a daughter. I was present to the honor that her soul chose me as her mom.I hate letting people see me cry, so I closed the door and in the dimmed lights of my bedroom, I just hand wrote her a letter. I can’t even remember what I said or where I put it, but I just felt that it was really important to capture that feeling on paper. What made it beautiful was how connected I was to the feeling, which isn’t something I always experience.  I’m not a “baby person” per se and yes, I WAS under the influence of Percocet from my C-section (ha!), but clearly there was something more going on.

What turns you on?

Freedom. (I am a Sagittarius indeed.) The spirit of “live and let live.” I’m big on people supporting one another’s personal freedom and respecting that. If you want to eat kale and I like filet mignon, that’s cool. We can inspire each other—or not—but I’m keen on people sharing their passions without trying to push them on others.

What makes your blood boil?

Closed-mindedness. People who think THEIR way is the only way or the right way. Cruelty.

How do you define confidence?

Feeling the freedom to be who you are, even when nobody around you “gets it.” Daring to live ahead of the curve, or on your own grid. Alignment between your inner and outer selves.

When was the last time you experienced pure, unadulterated joy?  Can you give us the juicy details?

Less than a year ago, I decided to split my time between New York City and a small but totally hippie-artsy Hudson Valley town 45 minutes upstate from Manhattan called Nyack. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. I realized that the tall buildings and crowds feed the “masculine” part of me: the ambitious, single-focused, go-go-go side of my personality. But I also got depleted of feminine energy since becoming a mother, and I needed a refill. So I turned to the ultimate mama: Mother Nature. I now feel feminine joy just soaking up the chlorophyll from the trees around my Nyack house and neighborhood. And I feel masculine joy when I’m in NYC doing the networking, make-it-happen thing, indulging in foie gras or steak frite at an awesome restaurant.

What makes you feel most ENLIVENED?

Riding a bike, whether it’s on a Hudson Valley trail or along the river in New York City. I just love the feeling of freedom. Awesome friendships and conversations. Also, when I’ve done a great astrology reading for one of the many amazing women who consult with us, and I know I’ve helped her see new hope and possibilities for her life. When someone leaves a session so inspired that she’s ready to take clear action and change her life, I get enlivened, too.

Combining my passions with a business I love makes me feel … excited to get out of bed every morning. I am always the first one up in my household. However, since my husband and my 14-year-old stepdaughter are both entrepreneurial, it’s not long before they’re up, too.

Few people know this about me, but I … am an introvert as well as an extrovert (or what Susan Cain, the expert on introverts, calls an “ambivert”). While I love to be among people, I am also happy to be alone for hours with a book, project or one of the many ideas I always have brewing. I can talk and talk and talk, but then I also love peace and quiet!

I secretly wish I could … sing as well as a recording artist. Okay, maybe that’s not SO secret…

To me, the words ‘Such Different Skies’ mean …  living life in a new context, one of our own creation. Not assuming that life “is” a certain way, or going along blindly. Rather, it’s about being open to looking up and seeing something totally new, different and defiant of all common expectations. I love the originality of the name!

This such an amazing interview this week my dear- thank you! AstroStyle is my go-to astrology site and as you say, their predictions are freakishly bang on! I have a bit of a Monday morning ritual where I jump onto the site, read my horoscope and then meditate for a little while- great start to the week. A reading with them is on my list for the near future!

I love the perspective Ophi gives on why she splits her time between two places and the energy that comes from where we choose to spend our time- very, very interesting. She’s such a beautiful, harmonious spirit.

Great interview- thank you my lovely! xx

Great interview Tara. I love the Astro twins! I need to do a reading with these women. I often read my Capricorn horoscope and while its always relevant and true to me, I do not feel as though I have the traits of a Capricorn. If I look at descriptions of each sign I seem to be a Pisces and this confuses me.

      Love the interview!

Inspiration can come at unexpected times. Yesterday I was sitnitg at the computer debating back and forth in my head whether or not I was going to go to my Tai Chi class. I was going back and forth Tai Chi? Or Keis Ter? Then your blog entry landed in my email box. It was enough to get me out the door. Thanks and the class was great.
