By some miracle, not only did I survive my recent launch unscathed, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was wonderful. Easy. Inspiring. I felt supported and guided, and have no doubt that mostly, it’s because I decided I was going to feel that way.
When we’re on the precipice of something that we perceive to be big and important, we can easy de-rail into mindless chatter. I want to encourage you to do the opposite. Chill a little, and clear the channel (your channel!) of all unnecessary distractions that don’t serve you.
Ask yourself this question: What do I need to actively do- or feel- to ensure that I remain grounded and connected to my message?
In other words, and in my case- how do I remain present and fully conscious, instead of compulsively checking my computer and monitoring my sales?
For me, this experience was unlink any other. I literally felt as if I was launching my heart: ‘Here’s what I’ve got peeps, whaddya reckon? Do you need it?’ But the thing is, I alllllllmost fell into the ‘Launches are so frantic- something always messes up, blah blah blah trap.’ While I was definitely a little wired for the first few days, and yes, I had trouble forming sentences at times (!), I certainly took a proactive approach to releasing Party Girls to the world, and I hope this inspires you to adopt a similar level of preparation in your own life when things start to feel big.
In the 48 hours leading up to the launch, what will I do?
The Answer: Clear my inbox. Eat real food. Get an alignment (I opted for cupping- amazing!). Affirm: “I am ready”. Make room: give stuff to charity, burn my journals, start packing for our big move).
How will I celebrate the launch?
The Answer: Go to Big Day Out. Ring my girls. Give thanks. Upgrade little elements in my life (I bought organic shampoo, stocked up on Kombucha, essential oils and wore bright colours). Connect with people face-to-face. Laugh often.
How will I continually and consciously stay grounded and present throughout this process?
The Answer: Wear crystals in my bra. Buy flowers. Pray + sit in stillness daily. Use aromatherapy. Listen to my body (at times, I barely ate, for the simple reason that my body didn’t feel the need to). Practise detachment (which deserves about 1872934634639 blog posts all of its own). Schedule blog posts and social media updates, to avoid having to ‘be’ online. Hang out in my chakras. Chew whole grains, very slowly.
You’ll notice this isn’t your regular checklist; I felt a serious pull to get out of my head and let Party Girls do it’s thing, so I prioritised my body and honoured how it wanted to be.

For God’s sake, start for where you are now.
I can see the Party Girls Guide to Peace housed on it’s own website with all the bells and whistles some day down the track. I can see it come to form as a book, where women the world over can get their hands on a resource that will undoubtedly change their lives. But at this stage, it’s just about getting the damn work out there!
Be as resourceful as you can, and bring on as much help as you can afford. Please don’t compare yourself to the shine and polish of those around you. Hold your space, do the best you can, and go for it.
In this launch video, I pulled my bookshelf away from the wall in my sweat-box of a bedroom, and sat my Macbook Air on a pile of chunky spiritual books in an attempt to get a decent angle of my face. That nice little glow you see on my face- it’s not vibrant skin, it’s sweat. I was dripping with it. Thank you heat wave.
In this interview, which was recorded on the afternoon of the launch, it’s not hard to see that I was a little dishevelled, and in fact I almost forgot about the interview. My hair was greasy, I was wearing one of Glen’s singlets (without a bra), and I had terrible bags under my eyes (unfortunately I had to work at my part time job all day). But nonetheless, I did the best I could in that moment.
Can I tell you a secret? I haven’t written all the content for the program! I’ve mapped out the topics I know I need to cover throughout the course, with the intention that my ideas will evolve and change as the girls do. I’m taking more of a ‘watch and respond’ approach. Sometimes, you just have to trust that people are willing to put their trust in YOU.
Lighten the Load
I had kinesiology, which served as a beautiful translater between me and my body. My fears and insecurities came to the surface, and from there, we were able to dissolve them.
I brought on an assistant and her team to specifically help with the back-end stuff. Money well spent.
I invested in a Shine Consult with Julie Parker (which by the way, was fantastic!). With Julie, I was able to throw around ideas, create strategies and filter through the fluff in my head. It was also my conversation with Julie that kick started my efforts to release my social media addiction.
Also, the lovely Alana Scheikowski helped me with the branding and PDF’s for the program. All important, but time consuming stuff, which I knew would suck a lot of energy out of me. Alana’s help has been invaluable, and I happen to know that she’s offering her services to other online babes who need help bringing their words and ideas to life.
Gather your troops. The support I’ve received from my online peeps has been outstanding. I can’t believe how blessed I am. Really.
I hope this post has brought the two of us closer and that you feel as though you know me a little better. Let this inspire you to live in your beautiful body more often.
Your turn. Do you have something BIG in your life coming up that would benefit from this type of approach? A job interview? A first date? A vulnerable blog post that you can’t seem to publish? Let me know below, I’d love to hear what elements of my action plan resonated with you.
PS: Stay tuned for a super magical Monday, ladies. Rach MacDonald (the one and only) and I are releasing a sneak peak of a video we’ve recorded exclusively for all fresh B-Schooler’s that sign up via our link. If you’re a wannabe B-Schooler, the two of us are so excited to be coming together to light your way with our support through this process. Two sets of eyes are better than one! The B-School Cart opens Wednesday the 20th Feb (early Thursday for us here in Oz), so mark it in your calendar!

Amen, sista! Another timely, beautiful post. Getting outta my head & into my body is definitely something that I have been attempting to focus on of late. This post acts as a loving reminder to do what it takes to remain grounded. Thank-you for sharing so much of your gorgeous self, Tara. Your love, energy and support is palpable! xxx
You’re exactly right Sarah, ‘do what it takes’. And sometimes that means running a bath or reading a book or touching a crystal. Feel.Good.Now. :)

You know I’m equally as obsessed with you right babes? LOVE YOU x
Thank you for this post gorgeous! I am on the countdown to the launch of my website and it has been a BIG process for me. This post was a wonderful reminder of what I need to keep my focus on, and how I can support myself through this journey.
Thank you from the bottom of heart, my beautiful soul sista xx
I love you Connie!
This is amazing. Like Connie, I too and making big changes to my online life and am finding some struggles along the way. I am glad to read your advice about not falling into the “frantic” trap and declaring your intention for how it will be – not how the process should be.
Gorgeous post and loving the photos. You rock, Tara and I’m thrilled to hear that the launch went well! xo
Thanks for sharing that. I’m going to a scriptwriter’s conference on Wednesday and then meeting with the Head of Production at Village Roadshow. Normally my cue to go spastic but I’m getting Belinda’s white light tonight and staying grounded and stuffing my bra with green adventurine crystals!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!
I’m launching a program in April and recording the videos this weekend. Everything is starting to fall together but there are moments of “omg there is so much stuff to do” and “how am I going to pull this off”.
Thanks for this gorgeous reminder to keep my cool xx
Hey Tara! What a glorious post :) Thank you for the wonderful shout out and support – the feeling is mutual and I have loved (and continue to love!) working on this project with you!
You rock – and I am taking a leaf out of your book and have booked a reflexology session.
xo
I’ve just found this post today and as I read the remark “Please don’t compare yourself to the shine and polish of those around you.” it hit a nerve. Often my guides remind me there is no point comparing your insides to someone else’s outsides. Makes for a lot of ego and agony.
Having just come back from maternity leave, I’ve been frantically working on everything that’s been swimming through my head for the past year.
Seeing your post today was a lovely reminder to slow down and honour myself more first.
Thank you x
I’ve heard SO much about you Helen-via Rach- so thanks for stopping by over here.
‘There is no point comparing your insides to someone else’s outsides’… I really, really (really, really) like that. Wise words :)
xxx
I love this post honey and that you did things YOUR way. I am playing around with an eCourse idea for my singing site and the thought of launching terrifies me, but reading this has made me realise that I should do what makes me feel excited and at ease. Thank you, you’re a superstar! x
