I Have the World’s Best Hangover Cure. Let It Be Known.

best hangover cure

Well, I certainly didn’t expect that this would be a topic that would reduce me to tears while recording, but stranger things have happened, I suppose. Who’d have thought that starting a discussion on the best hangover cure ever came loaded with so much emotion.

The truth is, this whole Detaching Ourselves From Our Party Girl Behaviour thing turns out to be a pretty robust passion of mine – bigger than I ever anticipated for it to be – most likely because when I was in the grip of it myself, I couldn’t see a way out for the life of me. I knew I was mistreating my body. I knew the people I was spending time with weren’t lighting me up. I even knew that the doom that came with hangovers and comedowns, eventually, wasn’t even worth the fun in the first place.

But for so long, what was stronger than my curiosity to pursue good health and vibrant spirit, was my overwhelming fear of the Tara I would be faced with without the myriad of play roles I could hide behind on any given night.

The broody, contemplative Tara, who drank red wine. She locked eyes and oozed sass and could out-philosophise anyone.

The bright, gregarious, up-for-anything Tara who drank vanilla vodka, lime and dry (thank you very much!). She laughed (giggled, actually). She was endearing. Cute. Desirable.

The badass Tara who knocked back shots of tequila and skulled jugs of beer. She was confident and outgoing. The boys loved her.

Who the hell am I if I can’t be any of these things?

That question was almost too painful to ponder, so instead, I kept drinking.

Until finally, curiosity jumped teams. There they were: those whispers from my soul that I’d been tucking away. They came bearing promises of joy and fulfilment and radiant health. I started listening.

The media will tell us that hangovers call for black coffee, cold showers, the hair of the dog (you’ve gotta be kidding me, right? I think an alcoholic came up with that theory). But I want to stretch you here.

Last week I shared 3 questions you can ask yourself if you want to have a peaceful holiday. Prevention is always better than cure, but hey, sometimes life calls upon us to get swept up in the moment. That’s why this video exists.

CLICK PLAY for the best hangover cure. Ever. Promise.

If you liked this video, please share it with your friends. My SEO coach Shae reckons Google+ is the next hot thing, so if you wouldn’t mind giving me the old +1 below, I’d be so grateful.

Happy New Year, you Such Different Beauties! You mean the world to me.

PS: The Answer to Your Prayers in the other post that I mention in the video.

PPS: The Party Girls Guide to Peace is closing down on January 18, for good. If you want 2014 to be the year I spoke about in the video; the year that you expand your comfort zone and explore who you are without external crutches, then I would love you to join us. There’s no better time.

So I’ve not been a party girl in this literal sense, but I did happen to use this technique yesterday (hmmm, clearly your stuff is really sinking in to my brain!) from an argument hangover. I sat in the anger and frustration, felt it, cried, stewed a little, then all of a sudden I felt the urge to let it go and pass it on in the form of a blog post. So I sat and wrote (and I think I’ll hit publish at some point!) and it felt good, a nice release. And it got me thinking a bit about it being time to do a re-read of Spirited 2 – I’ve mentioned how much I love that right? :)

Oh Tara, I could see plain on your face the sheer emotion and love you have for your audience. I love this technique and while it’s been a while since I’ve had a hangover, I am going to use this for other areas in my life – anger, bingeing and even self-relfection. I hope 2014 is everything you desire and more x

Wow… Letting the tears settle from teaming down my face, crying with you. Mild hangover, feel like I have been punched in each eye.

I joined PGGTP towards the end of last year and the resistance has been staggering. “I have no time, no energy, too busy with work, can’t commit fully so why try?!” What a load of BS.

Think it’s time I make space to settle down and give myself the work I deserve.

Through my tears, 1.11 clicked over.

Right universe, I get it. There is more to do…

See you online soon Tara & thank you so very much xxx

Your amazing. What can I say. I just watched two vids in a row and you get it you get me. I wish I;’d watched this prior to new years. I am pregnant and have had the odd glass of wine as I did with my other two but I wake up in the middle of the night anxious. Its not for me anymore. The way i lived my life before is not now. By telling me to feel it I know you have touched somethign within me. It makes me feel anxious, guilty, like a betrayal. Why am i putting myself through tha for one glass of wine? Also the friendship thing – I am not judging I know that they are them and I am me and I will show compassion but i need to be ok with being more alone. Gettng rid of that fear of missing out. Getting rid of tha feeling that i need a few drinks to be stimulated by conversations going on around me. I have my best friend, my husband but I need a new tribe. FOr the moment I am going to gently let go of who I need to and let them be -only then can i clear the way for new things xxx Thank you

Tara – this is such a great post. I just gave up alcohol for a 100-day challenge on November 3 2013 and have not gone back. I’m done for good! Just like you were talking about, getting in touch and seeing the influence it has on body and mind. Life is so much better without it! :)

I have just come across your website and watched this beautiful video – thank you so much!
I believe my journey really started when I had a huge panic attack on a hangover after my 21st birthday after 6/7 years of partying. I truly believe my body was saying enough is enough. Three years later I have found a happy balance where I do not get drunk – I will have one or two once in a while and I will not have guilt after. I get it now – there is so much more on my journey that I am being called to do! I just want to say thank you SO much for the video it really hit home! I love your website and cannot wait to keep reading :)

Love this. I got sober at 23. I’m now 28 and am just finishing my yoga teacher training and am starting up life coaching and yoga programs for 20 somethings to create peace while finding their purpose. I love your site and it is the first of it’s kind for me. You have everything I’ve always wanted to teach people and so grateful to see there are other reformed party girls spreading the message of love and contentment. xo

They are a very good way to promote business service.

In addition, many of the words used started to take on slightly
different meanings, depending on the context in which they are used.
Daily, even hourly, businesses can see how many individuals clicked on their ads and the traffic that
is being driven to their website.
