Home is a strange word to me. All my life have I moved around; perhaps I have always been a traveller. I bounced between towns and schools as a youngen, travelled my vast Australia throughout my teens on sporting trips, and when I became of age, continued to shift, seemingly not afraid of change.
It honestly doesn’t get easier as the years tick by. Packing up, leaving friends and family; it takes sacrifice, it exhausts you of money. You lose your bearings, constantly. And then you pack up, and do it all over again. Alright, let’s go. Deep breath.
Often though in this life, moments like the one pictured above, paired with another few deep breaths, make all of the effort worth it. This is home, for now.
beautiful life you have my dear
I really like your words on being a vagabond – that’s just how it feels. I’m much the same way, figuring I’m like a turtle, where my home isn’t a particular location, but rather something that I always carry with me. Have fun on the west coast – the winter weather there is far more lovely than what we have here in Saskatchewan!
Nope, it doesn’t get easier. If anything, as I get older all this shifting around gets harder! I’m starting to get organised for our next move – down to Sydney this time – in the New Year. But as much as it’s a pain, there’s something so exciting about a new start! I hope you’re meeting great people and settling into the swing of things in BC! And even when it’s tough to be away, breath-taking moments like the one you captured here must have you thinking you’re doing something right!

I just found your blog… I’m in love!
I know exactly what you mean, I’ve only moved once so far, from NZ to Sydney, but I’m planning to keep going. It’s scary/exciting at the same time, but I feel like it’s something I have to do. Like I was born to travel and constantly see new places and meet new people.
It’s not the easiest thing to move around all the time, but I think it’s worth it. Nothing can replace those experiences.
