How to Handle Stress, Scatterbrain!

Get your bliss notes
how to handle stress tara bliss

The message in this video means the world to me. I believe in it, for starters, but on top of that, it’s undoubtedly effective. And what I most appreciate about this strategy on how to handle stress, is that it’s actionable. It’s in-the-moment. Prevention always trumps cure, but hey, at the end of the day, it’s often the falling over that makes the climb back up all the sweeter, so sometimes, our shortcomings needs a salve of Spirit.

Pausing in the midst of (often self prescribed) pressure can much of the time seem like the most obscene, ridiculous and counter intuitive choice to make. Wishful thinking.

Every function of your mind will, in these moments, spur you on to push through, to think on your feet, to make a hero out of yourself. And you’ll try your very best. You’ll aim to clear your calendar, your inbox. You may book in an extra client when you’re already feeling wiped out, or hand over yet another Yes instead of a sacred and supportive No, not this time.

And you’ll get tired.

But there’s a difference between laziness and surrender. Surrender allows the outcome to reveal itself to us, instead of us having to terrorise our nervous systems on the hunt for solutions.

Press PLAY and learn how to handle stress.

It’s a big call, I know – mustering enough mojo to take a step back from your day in order toa llow the guidance to come forward. But this is the path of all the great mystics – and the yogis – who devoted themselves to surrender and followed the scent of synchronicity.

And I reckon we can learn a thing or two from them.

Go on, try it now.

I’d love you to tell me in the comments below what your guidance is willing you to do (or not do) today. it doesn’t have to make sense, you just have to listen, and act accordingly!

With bliss,

Tara.

      Yep – this was timely.
Dog, kids, mess, problems, all overwhelming me – took a moment to sit at the computer with the kids having some time in their bedrooms, and this lovely vlog pops up.
      Perfect. Absolutely perfect.
I need to stop, breathe, and trust – rather than race, panic, and control.
      Thanks for the reminder.

Oh Tara. Oh the timing (I’m sure you’re not surprised!!). Perfect not only in the moment but as a flow on from current themes and musings and practices.
I just did this right now and got a flood of wisdoms; among them – ‘Keep doing this for a few minutes’ (stopping, breathing, hand on heart and womb), ‘call a time block of uninterrupted time to get done what you need without interruption – let your colleagues know’, ‘go out for lunch today – get some space and air and clear your energy’, ‘write down the feedback you’ve been asked to give, take your time, push back the meeting, make sure it’s balanced for YOUR needs’ and …. ‘go and make a cup of tea now’. Breath suddenly flowing back in.
So very grateful for this one! Thank you thank you. xo

Love this video Tara!! I get like this a bit, all up in my own head but I am definitely going to try this out next time it happens. Like you I am lucky to work from home so this is perfect. Thank you!! xxxx

I love that question: “What would you have me do?” Reminds me of the wisdom of my beloved Dr Clarissa Pinkola Estes. Yes, yes. “What would you have me do?” Often my answer is: what I truly want to do. Funny, that.

Oh, Tara. I LOVE these videos of yours. Your energy in them always feels so grounded and present– no matter what you happen to be saying in them, it’s the vibes that draw me in every time. :) I always tune in to my spirit and slow down watching them. Thank you so much for gifting them to us!

Coincidence? Nah.. let’s roll with synchronicity :)

Thank you for this. I love that it is so simple and can be used in the moment to help create calm and peace again.

It is so easy at this time of year to over ride the New Year wave of inspiration, we surely have to have a dip to bring us to normal again.

      Much Love

A big fat yes! Thank-you Tara, my head was literally spinning and this just made my day. After doing this exercise, my body told me it’s time for an early night to bed with a good book. Everything else can wait and I am finally going to surrender. Thank you again x

I adore this post (as always) Tara! Flow has been my theme for the past week and boy has it made a difference. I feel calmer and as a Mum of two it’s amazing what impact that has on the whole household. Surrendering to what is and what I have no control over has changed my life completely. Do you think it’s important to figure out why we are resisting certain things or just let them go and move on?

Tara, divine timing is seriously your thing. Thank you so much for sharing this. I often struggling with this feeling of just “surviving”, of being in a constant fight or flight mode!

I thought I was the only one who felt like this and became stupidly aggressive at little things that annoyed me. Thank you for reminding me that I am not alone in this.

I will be trying your advice next time I feel this way. Thank you for showing me that there is another way to be xxx

Absolutely loved this! It is SO easy to get caught up in the busy I think. Especially when you work for yourself.. I struggle to take that often very necessary step back. Spookily, this week I wanted to focus on ‘BALANCE’ so your video came at the exact right time. That meant listening in and unplugging from my laptop, flopping down under the airconditioner and doing a guided meditation for 15 minutes. Was the best possible thing I could have done for myself!

Hey Tara, haven’t been on your beautiful website for a while now but this afternoon I am still stressed out from a busy day I decided to look for stress tips. And can you believe I had a look on your blog and there was a post all about it!!! Isn’t that crazy!? Great to be back and great tips, simple yet perfect. Thanks! xx

Thank you Tara. I appreciate such simple and practical advice. I have recently been diagnosed with anxiety/depression and will be ‘checking-in’ with my Peter each day when I’m feeling overwhelmed, stressed, busy, sad, etc.
Thanks for sharing and ‘keeping it real’.

Perfectly timed. I have been struggling with the irrational, frustrated ‘everything can get fucked’ moments lately. Think it’s a combination of the new year, a new job and this awful bloody heat! A nice little reminder to step out of the mind, and of the power of breath.

      Thank you xxx

As someone else said, divine timing really is your thing. Yesterday I was just talking about how “messy” my life feels. I never feel in control of any of it and I’m wearing out. This is a perfect, in the moment, exercise to help embrace the mess. Thank you!

    • 20 January 2014

Love it Tara, I love retreating to the bed, sometimes with a flower or a crystal too. When I was in corporate, I went to the bathroom ;) There’s something col about changing environments – even if its for an uglier one – to shake you up!

Finding this video when I needed it most was enough on its own to shake me out of that horrible, caging ‘fight or flight’ feeling that has been strangling me the past week or so. I recognised it, but I couldn’t figure out how to break out of it, or rather, I wasn’t taking time or making space to do so. I think this will really help life start flowing again. Thank you.
