Market Day

Get your bliss notes

I was planning on having an internet free evening, but instead, after staring admirably at all my new produce on the bench post market, I had to share this beautiful image with you!

All of this cost me 45 dollars!!!!! I love markets so much. It’s so rewarding to shop there, both financially and spiritually, the environment totally envelops you into vegetable paradise… just the way I like it! I have frequented the South Melbourne Market, Preston Market, Prahran Market and today, the Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne’s CBD, and it was definitely the cheapest. It’s days like today when it’s certainly hard for me to empathize with anyone who suggests that eating healthily is more expensive than not. Although the produce in these markets is more often than not non-organic, it is cheap and local and sustainable to those local farmers and personally, it is more important for me to participate in this than in any Big Mac religion. 89 cents for a kg of carrots? Hellssssssss yeah!

Let’s see…

Four mangoes, eight lemons, eight bulbs of garlic, four heads of beet, half a kilo of cherries (!!!!), ginger, three kilos of carrots, three small cucumbers, three eggplants, eight apples, nine oranges, six avocados, three punnets of strawberries, one bunch of celery, five bananas, eight pears, one bunch of silverbeet, one bunch of chinese broccoli, one taro (japanese slimy-ish potato- so good), ten nectarines, a bunch of basil, a bunch of watercress and a whole bag of spinach!

Love it!
