You all know about it, in fact, I would be suprised if any of you don’t have this in your cupboard. Raw cacao is what all that ‘chocolate fuss’ is about. You know; how media personalities, doctors, nutritionists; everyone goes on about it- chocolate is good for you! Wrong.
The raw cacao bean is where all the magic happens. But given the trend and availability of information these days about super foods and raw foods, I would hate to patronize you because my guess is, this is old news to you! :) Over the last few days, I have been analyzing my newish diet {which is almost vegan {this needs another blog post in its entirety I think}}, and a few foods have fallen under my scrutiny; namely cacao and agave {again, this will have to be discussed at a later time}. I did a little research and found sub cultures and online communities expressing how over rated they believe cacao is, that it stimulates them too much {much like caffeine} and other hateful, damning allegations against this ancient, spiritual bean. People have said much the same thing about agave nectar, maca powder, heavy nut dishes {think: butters, pate
I love raw cacao for pretty much the same reasons you mentioned – plus I love it’s rich and bitter flavor. I’ve never thought to use cacao as a face mask – nifty idea! Looks hilarious. :)
@Allysia You should give it a go, particularly if you get shiny, oily skin… it dries it right out temporarily. I figured if all those antioxidants are good for you insides it must be ok for the outside too!
