Self Centred Sundays: A Love Note to the Internet

SDSLOVEWEDDING

Let it be known; I freaking love the internet. Where would we be without it?

We can find our tribe and experience a deep sense of resonance like never before. We can express ourselves authentically to people who give a damn. We can build communities, and offer generous support, and build fulfilling businesses. We can stir hearts.

And LOVE is the glue that sticks it all together.

Not too long ago, I believed that anybody who ‘blogged’ was a socially stunted, uninteresting, loser-nerd, who’d obviously bore the pants off me if I ever dared to hang around them. I can’t help but smile at my naivety in hindsight now, as I observe how rich my life is with gorgeous friendships whose seeds were sown online.

This weekend just gone is a beautiful example of this.

Late last year, I (apparently) met Alana at an event in Brisbane (I say apparently, because I don’t remember!), and not long after that, she attended A Night of Stillness, a meditation evening that I co-host with Susana Frioni. I gave her a big cuddle at the end of the night and hoped that she enjoyed her first experience with us.

A few days later, she hired me as her coach, and a few weeks after that, I discovered she was mighty handy with photoshop, and brought her on board to help me make the Party Girls Guide to Peace shine. She then discovered that I’m an ex-hairdresser, after explaining to me how frustrated she was about not being able to lock in a hairdresser for her Stradbroke Island wedding (which was on Saturday). So, we did a trade.

I’ve gotten to know Alana more and more over the last few months, particularly as I’ve brought her onboard as a more permanent part of my team, but having the downright privilege of participating in her wedding day and watching her glow and laugh and dance, made my heart sing.

I can’t even tell you how many times I had to wipe tears away from my eyes.

Speaking of love, and the internet, and Alana, she recently whipped up this awesome free download for us all. Get amongst.

For the internet, I am grateful. Sometimes it frustrates me, sometimes it exhausts me and makes me want to scream OMG-I-just-need-to-slam-this-damn-computer-shut-and-run-away-to-South-America-for-6-months! But most of the time, I’m completely floored by the joy it’s brought into my life; one little experience- one little friendship- one little client at a time.

Ruby Toad was another one of my clients who came into my life around the same time as Alana. Months ago, I was the one ringing her at our allotted session times, but today, she Skypes me. I’ve chosen Ruby as my Reiki mentor, and whenever she has fears that need kicking to the curb, she knows where to turn. I’m simply in awe of this beautiful circle of life, love and abundance.

Needless to say, I am blown away and so appreciative to both of these girls, so please consider the two of them if you have an upcoming ebook, program that needs a facelift, or if you’re interested in the healing power of Reiki.

How I Celebrated Self Centred Sundays This Week

Oh, friends. Let’s put it this way, I was relieved and happy to have rounded out my hugely busy and exhausting day with a catch up with an old friend, and A Night of Stillness in Brisbane. As my head hit the pillow late last night, I quickly checked in with my body and promised it, Okay, let’s not do that again.

Instead, I woke up this morning and smiled at how YOU celebrated SCS yesterday. Thank you for inspiring me with your energy and enthusiasm for self-care and presence. I’m returning to that this Sunday, with a gentle vengeance.

Looking Forward

Mindful in May

I’m so proud to be a part of this amazing cause- and so’s the back of my head! I’ve jumped on board the Earth Events team, and together, we’re raising money for Charity : Water.

This is such an incredible thing to be a part of, and to celebrate the end of a month of mindfulness, Earth Events will be holding an event in which anyone who donates to our team can attend (if you live locally). To donate to our team (thank you in advance!) click here, and to check out my short and sweet interview for Mindful in May, click here.

My intention for this week: To remember in times of chaos that I am grateful and fortunate and blessed. In those times, I will take a deep, deep breath, and breathe out Thank You.
