Ultimate Oats

Get your bliss notes

It’s time for some food on this blog.
Some kick ass, nutrient dense, up and at ’em food!
I always feel strange naming dishes I feature on this website as ‘recipes’, because that’s far from what they are. Instead, I like to think of them as food ideas {and I hope you do too}; innovative ways to rethink food and the ways it can be thrown together to achieve an end result that is delicious, healthy and cruelty free. And what better way to showcase this to you than to give you a sneak peak at what has been my staple breakfast for the last fortnight or so.

Ultimate oats! Packed with energy, health fats, fiber, protein and antioxidants. Everyone loved
porridge as a kid {right?}, but this concoction is something else; I wake up in the morning excited about this sexy breakfast, which is brimming with texture, spice and decadent coconut butter.

On the stove top, cook 1/3 cup oats with 2/3 cup water along with cinnamon powder and date paste for sweetness.
Cook for a few minutes until you reach a desired consistency.
Pour your oats into a bowl and then go nuts with toppings. Think fresh fruit, super foods, seeds, health fats.
I’ve been topping my oatmeal with rice milk, fresh blueberries and bananas, buckwheaties, coconut butter, flax seeds, hemp hearts and raisins.
This goes magically alongside a hot cup of cacoa or a mug of black Earl Grey, and gives me enough energy to snowboard for hours. Undoubtedly it would also fuel you enough to tackle the first few hours of your working day, and would replenish your body perfectly after a a hard slog at the gym.

I can barely wait till tomorrow morning!

Yum yum yum!! I have tried being a vegan on & off over the last year & I’ve actually found breakfast to be a really hard meal to do vegan. Thank you for sharing this – I will be trying it out this week!

Oatmeal never gets old. At least, not when it’s done up all exciting like this! Some mornings I love stirring in some raw cacao and a mashed banana in my oats…amazing. Especially with a little mint. Oatmeal = love.
